git の SSL certificate problem の解決方法

git コマンドを使って、 GitHub 上の repository のコピーを手元の計算機に持ってこようとするときに、以下のようなメッセージが表示されて失敗することがあるでござる。


% git clone https://github.com/kinoshitadaisuke/iancu_camp202307.git
Cloning into 'iancu_camp202307'...
fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/kinoshitadaisuke/iancu_camp202307.git/': SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

この SSL certificate problem が生じた場合には、以下のコマンドを実行すればよいようでござる。


% git config --global http.sslVerify false

上のコマンドを実行すると、ホームディレクトリに .gitconfig というファイルができるでござる。その中身は以下のようになっているでござる。


% cat ~/.gitconfig
[http]
        sslVerify = false

再度、 git clone コマンドを実行すると、今度は成功するでござる。


% git clone https://github.com/kinoshitadaisuke/iancu_camp202307.git
Cloning into 'iancu_camp202307'...
remote: Enumerating objects: 7, done.
