Grading

• Attendance (20%)
• Every week, you need to ask at least one question in the classroom.
• You need to hand a list of questions you have asked and answers you have received as an attendance check.
• For the first few weeks, I give a set of easy exercises. You hand your answers for these exercises as an attendance check.
• Your attendance check sheet has to be handed within a week.
• You are expected to come to the classroom every week. If you do not show up in the classroom, your grade will be adjusted.
• If you did not show up in the classroom for some reason (e.g. sick, injury, family matter, traffic accident), talk to me next time you come to the classroom.
• Oral presentation (80%)
• You need to give 2 oral presentations during the semester.
• There are some non-Taiwanese students in the classroom, and your oral presentation has to be given in English.
• You have 30-min for your talk.
• For each presentations, you get 40 points at maximum.
• If you do not show up on the day of your oral presentation, you get zero point.
• If you have been sick or injured for some time and need a re-arrangement of the date of your oral presentation, come and talk to me.
• This course is a compulsory course.
• If you think you haven't done your oral presentation well, come and talk to me.

Things you need to bring to the classroom

• A notebook and pens
• I strongly encourage you to take a note during oral presentations by other students.
• When a question comes up in your mind, write it down on your notebook. Then, you won't forget to ask about it.
• A mobile phone
• You may take photos of some pages of presentation slide by other students for recording purpose.
• e.g.: plots, images, tables, references
